Xavier Lestourneaud is Head of FX at DNEG’s Montreal studio, which is the company’s newest facility having opened in 2018. Most recently, he was FX Supervisor on ‘The Kid Who Would Be King’. Prior to this, Xavier supervised FX on Netflix’s acclaimed series ‘Altered Carbon’ and was awarded with a Visual Effects Society (VES) Award for his work on the show. He also supervised FX on ‘Metalhead’, the fifth episode of ‘Black Mirror’ Season 4, for which DNEG received a BAFTA TV Craft Award in 2018.
With experience in VFX for film, TV and video games, Xavier’s career started in 2003 as a VFX artist. His early film work includes the short documentary ‘Volcanoes of the Deep’, and the sci-fi thrillers ‘Decoys 2’ and ‘KAW’. In 2007 he moved from Montreal to Madrid, to work as a senior VFX artist on the feature animation ‘Planet 51’, before joining DNEG in 2009 as FX Technical Director. During the following six years, Xavier contributed to a wide range of shows including director Ron Howard’s ‘Angels & Demons’; Marvel Studios ‘Thor 2: The Dark World’; ‘Terminator: Genysis’ and ‘James Bond: Spectre’. He returned to Quebec in early 2019 to support the opening of DNEG’s new studio and later in the year he was promoted to the role of Head of FX.
